- ₹14k to ₹25k
1,500 km - 4,000+ pets moved
1,500 km North to East, door to door. By train it is NDLS to HWH. By air it is DEL to CCU.
We run this corridor in both directions. Kolkata to Delhi is planned and priced the same way.
Short answer first
Answer
1,500 km is three to four days of driving, so the honest answer on this corridor is not road. A booked coupe out of NDLS keeps your pet with a person for the whole journey, and a flight from DEL turns it into a few hours plus ground time.
Moving one pet Delhi to Kolkata costs ₹20k to ₹25k by road, ₹14k to ₹25k by train and ₹17k to ₹48k by air. The cheapest published option is train.
We usually recommend train here. This runs North to East, so it crosses the country rather than staying in one region. Strong direct rail links make train the practical default.
Pricing
Ranges are per pet and include handling and our coordinator. Crates, extra handlers and premium add ons are quoted separately.

| Mode | Cost per pet | Journey time | Coverage | Crate | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|

| Train | ₹14k to ₹25k | 25 to 28 hours | Station to station | None needed in a 1A coupe | Needs the full first AC coupe, booked early. |
| Air | ₹17k to ₹48k | About 2 hours in the air | Airport to airport | IATA compliant hard crate | Add three to four hours ground handling at each end. |
Modes marked On request depend on live airline or railway availability for your date. See the full pet transport cost guide for what moves these numbers.
Choosing a mode

Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU), about 2 hours in the air. The cargo terminal is 15 to 45 km depending on your part of NCR out at Palam on the Delhi side and about 17 km out at Dum Dum at the other end, and that driving is part of the day.
A dedicated vehicle covers the 1,500 km from your Delhi address to the Kolkata address. At roughly 29 hours it means 2 nights on the road, which is why we rarely lead with road on this pair.
Crate rules, coupe bookings and airline acceptance are the same on every route. They are set out on the road, train and air guides.
Timing
Summers cross 45 degrees and winters bring heavy fog. Both matter: we shift pickups to early morning in May and June, and build extra buffer into December and January journeys. On the Delhi pickup we load at first light and give an arrival window rather than a fixed time.
Summer humidity is heavy from April to June and the monsoon runs July to September. We plan early pickups in summer and keep buffer time during the rains. On the Kolkata delivery we load at first light and keep a spare day either side.
Dogs and cats
The dogs we move most out of Delhi are Labradors, German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, Pugs, Shih Tzus, Indies and Persian cats. This is what we would put each of them on for a 1,500 km run.

| Your pet | Best on this route | What to watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Small dog, under 10 kg | Air or train | May qualify for cabin travel on airlines that carry pets, which is the calmest option. |
| Medium dog, 10 to 25 kg | Train or air | A first AC coupe keeps your dog with a person the whole way. |
| Large dog, over 25 kg | Road or train | Cargo charges rise sharply with weight, so road or a booked coupe is usually kinder and cheaper. |
| Snub nosed breeds | Road or train only | Pugs, Bulldogs, Boxers and Shih Tzus are restricted from cargo holds by most airlines. |
| Cats | Train, in a 1A coupe | Cats stay enclosed and covered rather than taking walk breaks. They cannot use the train dog box. |
Two bonded pets from one home can often share a crate or coupe. Breed specific guidance is on the dog transport and cat transport pages.
