Which buses allow pets in India?
Almost none, and it is worth knowing this before you plan around it. Here is the honest picture.
Most operators do not allow pets
Private and state run bus services in India generally do not carry pets, and where a driver makes an exception it is entirely at their discretion, not a stated policy.
KSRTC is a confirmed exception
Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation allows pets on board, charging an adult fare for a dog and a child fare for cats, rabbits, puppies and birds. This is a stated corporation policy, not a driver favour.
Always confirm before you travel
Bus operator pet policy can change by route and by state. If a bus is genuinely your only option, confirm directly with that operator before buying a ticket, since there is no dependable pan India rule.

How far in advance do I need to book a pet taxi?
Three to five days is ideal, though we can often manage last minute and emergency requests depending on vehicle availability on your route. This is far more flexible than train or air, which need real advance notice.
Can I travel in the vehicle with my pet?
Yes. You are welcome to travel along, and we can adjust the plan around that. Most pet parents choose not to, since the handler manages breaks and feeding either way.
How long can a dog stay in a car during a long road move?
Comfortably for many hours, provided there are regular breaks. We schedule a stop every two hours to let your dog stretch, drink water and relieve themselves, which keeps even a long, multi day journey manageable.
Can I carry a dog on a bus in India?
Generally no. Most private and state bus operators in India do not allow pets on board, and where it happens it is a driver's personal call rather than policy. Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is a confirmed exception with a stated fare for pets.
If your route is not served by KSRTC, a pet taxi is the reliable road option rather than hoping a bus operator makes an exception.
Is a pet taxi suitable for large breeds and mixed breeds?
Yes, road travel has no breed or size restriction, unlike flying, where several airlines restrict snub nosed breeds and some limit very large dogs. This makes road the default recommendation for giant breeds and flat faced breeds on routes under about 1,000 km.
What documents does a pet taxi need?
Far less than train or air travel. An up to date vaccination record is enough for most road moves. A vet fitness certificate is recommended but not always mandatory, unlike train and air where it is required.
