Choosing a mode
The routes we run from Kerala range from Coimbatore at about 190 km to Delhi NCR at about 2,600 km. That spread is why the answer is not the same for every move out of this city.
Coimbatore, about 190 km on NH 66, is the run our Kerala drivers do most often. A short hop over the Palakkad gap, easily a half day.
We board at Ernakulam Junction (ERS) or Ernakulam Town (ERN) and handle the parcel office paperwork there. On Hyderabad, about 1,200 km, this is usually the best value of the three modes.
Flights leave from Cochin International Airport (COK) at Nedumbassery, which is about 30 km from the city, so the run to the cargo terminal is part of the plan rather than an afterthought. On Delhi NCR at about 2,600 km, flying turns a multi day journey into a few hours.

Dogs
The dogs we are asked about most in Kerala are Indies, Labradors, Golden Retrievers, Dachshunds, Spitz. Large breeds do best by road, where there is no crate size limit and no cargo hold. Pugs are common here and we keep them off flights where we can, because several airlines will not carry a snub nosed dog at all.
Most dog moves out of Kerala are road jobs: 4 of the 8 routes we run from here go by vehicle. We use NH 66 along the coast towards Mangaluru and Thiruvananthapuram on the busiest of them, Coimbatore.

Coimbatore at about 190 km goes by road. For the Delhi NCR run we board at Ernakulam Junction (ERS), in a first AC coupe or in 2nd and 3rd AC with a handler alongside.
