Choosing a mode
The routes we run from Pune range from Mumbai at about 150 km to Kolkata at about 1,870 km. That spread is why the answer is not the same for every move out of this city.
Mumbai, about 150 km on NH 48, is the run our Pune drivers do most often. A short expressway hop, the simplest move we run.
We board at Pune Junction (PUNE) or Shivajinagar (SVJR) and handle the parcel office paperwork there. On Chennai, about 1,150 km, this is usually the best value of the three modes.
Flights leave from Pune Airport (PNQ) at Lohegaon, which is about 10 km from the city, so the run to the cargo terminal is part of the plan rather than an afterthought. Our longest regular route, Kolkata at about 1,870 km, is the one where people ask about it most.

What we do. We keep a spare day either side of a monsoon booking and hold a backup road route, so a slow day does not turn into a missed handover.

Dogs
The dogs we are asked about most in Pune are Labradors, Beagles, Indies, Golden Retrievers. Large breeds do best by road, where there is no crate size limit and no cargo hold. Shih Tzus are common here and we keep them off flights where we can, because several airlines will not carry a snub nosed dog at all.
