Choosing a mode
The routes we run from Jammu range from Amritsar at about 215 km to Bangalore at about 2,700 km. That spread is why the answer is not the same for every move out of this city.
Amritsar, about 215 km on NH 44, is the run our Jammu drivers do most often. A comfortable half day run.
We board at Jammu Tawi (JAT) or Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) and handle the parcel office paperwork there. On Delhi NCR, about 600 km, this is usually the best value of the three modes.

Planning around Jammu and Srinagar
The Jammu Srinagar highway can close at short notice in winter because of snow and landslides. Between December and March we always plan a fallback and never promise a fixed arrival. A blocked road on these routes is a normal event, not a rare one.
What we do. We check road status the day before loading and keep a fallback plan. If a road closes while your pet is travelling, they stay with our handler in safe accommodation and we call you straight away.

Dogs
The dogs we are asked about most in Jammu are German Shepherds, Labradors, Indies, Spitz, which are mostly working and medium sized breeds rather than the flat faced ones. That makes the mode choice here simpler than it is in cities where half the enquiries are for a Pug or a Bulldog.
Distances from Jammu are long enough that a lot of dog moves here go by train or air. Bangalore at about 2,700 km works out at roughly 52 hours of driving, which is more than most dogs should do in one go.
Cats
Persian cats make up most of the cat moves we run out of Jammu. On the hill roads a covered carrier that cannot slide about matters more than anything else we pack.
